چکیده
The paper highlights Quality related Costs and how the costs can be extracted from an industry’s manufacturing and financial records. The level of automation of industrial manufacturing systems was measured and interfaced with quality-related cost. The significance of the relationship between the two important industrial parameters was evaluated. The results indicate that quality related costs increase with increase in the level of automation of industrial machines. However at very high automation levels, quality related costs become significantly lower. Models depicting the relationship between quality-related cost and automation were developed and tested. The models can help in predicting quality-related costs of an industry given its level of automation.

Synchronous oceanic spreading and continental rifting in West Antarctica
Magnetic anomalies associatedwith new ocean crust formation in the Adare Basin off north-western Ross Sea (43–26Ma) can be traced directly into the Northern Basin that underlies the adjacent morphological continental shelf, implying a continuity in the emplacement of oceanic crust. Steep gravity gradients along the margins of the Northern Basin, particularly in the east, suggest that little ext...
متن کاملA new perspective on continental moisture recycling
The importance of moisture feedback between continental precipitation and evaporation, referred to as moisture recycling, is still under debate. Most of the research in the past focused on the contribution of recycling to precipitation within a certain region only. This paper clearly distinguishes between different definitions of moisture recycling. This allows us to study the...
متن کاملThe initiation of segmented buoyancy-driven melting during continental breakup
Melting of the mantle during continental breakup leads to magmatic intrusion and volcanism, yet our understanding of the location and dominant mechanisms of melt generation in rifting environments is impeded by a paucity of direct observations of mantle melting. It is unclear when during the rifting process the segmented nature of magma supply typical of seafloor spreading initiates. Here, we u...
متن کاملThe continental margin is a key source of iron to the HNLC North Pacific Ocean
[1] Here we show that labile particulate iron andmanganese concentrations in the upper 500 m of the Western Subarctic Pacific, an iron-limited High Nutrient Low Chlorophyll (HNLC) region, have prominent subsurface maxima between 100–200 m, reaching 3 nM and 600 pM, respectively. The subsurface concentration maxima in particulate Fe are characterized by a more reduced oxidation state, suggesting...
متن کاملRole of continental recycling in intraseasonal variations of continental moisture as deduced from model simulations and water vapor isotopic measurements
[1] Climate models suggest an important role for land-atmosphere feedbacks on climate, but exhibit a large dispersion in the simulation of this role. We focus here on the role of continental recycling in the intraseasonal variability of continental moisture, and we explore the possibility of using water isotopic measurements to observationally constrain this role. Based on water tagging, we des...
متن کاملDown-welling circulation of the northwest European continental shelf: A driving mechanism for the continental shelf carbon pump
[1] Annually integrated measurements of pCO2 have demonstrated that seasonally stratified regions of temperate shelf seas can be an important sink of atmospheric CO2. A key process to support this sink is the transport of carbon from shelf seas to below the permanent pycnocline of the deep ocean. Using a hydrodynamic model simulation of the northwest European Continental shelf, we find that bot...
